HERO DROWNED
MOTHER RECEIVES REWARD The mother of a young seaman who; lost his life while rescuing a boy from drowning at Seacombe, Lancashire, in December last, has been rewarded for; her son's bravery by the Carnegie Hero Fund trustees. . - Ronald Burnett, aged 18, of Liver-, pool, home on leave, was walking along the promenade at Seacombe when ha heard that a 15-vear-old boy had fallen, into the water. Burnett plunged in and swam id water ten feet deep and swirling with dangerous currents out to the bo He caught him, and a lifebelt was thrown to them. Burnett was swimming to the shore when the line ? the lifebelt broke. Exhausted, Burnr rs sank in the swirling waters and w-si drowned. The boy was safely pulled ashore.
