LUTHER'S BIRTHDAY
The old German city of Eisleben, in Thuringia, in which Martin Luther was born and died, now holds special memorial exercises on November 10 each year, the great reformer's birthday. Last year's programme included divine services in all the city's churches and exercises by the school children in front of Luther's monument on the Market Place. An evening celebration was given with addresses and chorus singing. There was a festival procession, visits to places connected with Luther s life and an illumination of the market place at night.
