At a meeting of the Henderson Methodist Missionary Auxiliary the president's quarterly letter was read, also the quarterly report from Sister Ivy Jones on her work among tho Maori girls in the city and suburbs. Other business matters were discussed, and visitors were welcomed. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Rushton and Mrs .Williams. The monthly meeting of the city branch of the Mothers' League was held in -the Airedale Mission Hall. The president, Mrs. P. A. Lindsay, presided, and welcomed' the large gathering of mothers. At the annual meeting of the Pukeatua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union the following were elected to office: —President, Mrs. Crook; secretarj', Mrs. Bulmer; vicepresidents, Mrs. Donald, Mrs. Bethune and Mrs. Kurth; committee, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Sharrock and Mrs. Jenkins. "Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Heddon, Mrs. Kurth and Mrs. J. Bethune. There was,a large attendance at the weekly meeting of the Women's Progress Club, which was held at the Higher Thought Temple. The speaker was Professor James Adams, who gave a talk on " The Faith That Never Fails." The necessity for an optimistic and confident outlook as an aid in overcoming the present difficult financial crisis was emphasised. Questions wer6 invited and afternoon tea was served at the close of the meeting. Mrs. H. Keesing, of Ewen Street, Takapuna, "'as the hostess, at a most enjoyable afternoon held at her homo in honour of Mrs. J. C. Blomfield, a member of the Takapuna Borough Council, who is again standing for election next month. About 30 attended and Mrs. Blomfield answered questions relating to borough affairs and also gave an outline of the work being carried out. A competition was won by Mrs. Blomfield and later tea was served. There was a large attendance of ladies in the Town Hall, Otorohanga, when an address was given by Mrs. English, of Auckland, provincial president of the League of Mothers. Mrs. Gilberd presided, and Mrs. F. W. Whyte, the provincial secretary, was also present. Mrs. English explained the aims and objects of the league and, after general discussion, a branch was formed in Otorohanga, with Mrs. P. H. Rowe as president and Nurse Gorrie as secretary. Mrs. English afterwards described' her visit to the Oberammergau Passion Play, which greatly interested her hearers. Miss Walters sang and afternoon tea was seryed. : The weekly concert given by Mrs. Raeburn and Mr. A. Hamblin was held in Ward 28 at the Public Hospital on Wednesday evening. A very enjoyable programme was provided, consisting of songs, duets, dancing, elocution, pianoforte and mandolin items. Those taking pnrt were !\liss Aldwyth Dunn, Mifes Beatrice Balfe, Miss Margaret McCarthy, Mrs. C. Fitzpatrick, Mrs. J. McCarthy, Messrs. .T. McCarthy, C. Fitzpatrick. Madam Dunn and Mrs. C. Fitzpatrick were the accompanists. At the close of the concert Mrs. Raeburn was presented with a bouquet by the patients, -sister and nurses. Mr. A. Hamblin responded on behalf of Mrs. Raeburn. '
