DECREASE IN IMPORTS ADVERSE BALANCE■ FALLING LONDON, April 12 The Board of Trade returns for Ma rcli show that imports totalled £56,346,000, a decrease of £4,773,414, compared with March, 1932. The value of exports was. £32,551,000, an increase of £1,354,701, and of reexports, £3,983,000. a decline; of £1,441,077. The principal decreases last month were: Imports, living animals, £352,000; other food and drink, £1,414,000; raw cotton, £1,17'.).000; hides and skins, £102,000; nonferrous metals and manufactures, £302,000. Exports: Machinery, £230,000. Increases:—lmports: Oils, fats and resins, £BOO,OOO. Exports: Coal, £331,000; vehicles, £1,438,000. It decreased in 1932 to £24,499,038. Last month the excess of imports decreased to £19,812,000. GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON (Received April 14, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 13 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £6 Is 6d an ounce, compared with £6 Is 8d yesterday and £6 Is 4d on April 11Silver was quoted yesterday at 17$ d spot and 17 11-16 d forward, compared with' 17gd and 17 7-16 d on April 10. BUTTER-FAT PAYMENTS HINUERA AND CAMBRIDGE [FROM OUR OWN COrtRKSrONDKNT] HAMILTON. Friday. An advance of 6cl per lb. butter-fat for cream supplied for butter-making during March is being paid by the Hinuera Co-opera tivo Dairy Company, Limited. The aggregate will bo £4988. The Cambridgo Co-operativo Dairy Company, Limited, has fixed the advance for the March supply at 6d per lb. for butter-making and 7d per lb. for cheese-making. Payments made in the corresponding month of last year for the March supply wero at the rate of lOd per lb. for cream for buttermaking and lid per lb. butter-fat for milk received for the manufacture of cheese." Tho total pay-out this month is £13,188, compared with £14,457 for tho corresponding month last year. The amount paid so far this season totals £142,220, as against £154,557 for the corresponding period last season.
