Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P., arrived lit Auckland yesterday. Mr. Justice Smith arrived by the express on J.hursduy morning. Mr. C. M. Richwhito returned-from Wellington yesterday morning. . Mr. M. H. Wynyard returned to Auckland on Thursday morning. Sir George Fowlds returned from the South by train yesterday morning. Mr. W. E. Barnard, M P. for Napier, was a passenger by the express which arrived ycstcrcitiy morning. Mr. George Baildon left on Tlnirg. day evening on a business visit to the South. Ho will bo away for two of three weeks. Mr. R- A. Fernandez, of the head office "staff of the Pensions Department, Wellington, has been appointed registrar of pensions at Hamilton. Sir James Mills, chairman of directors of the Union Steam Ship Company, was a passenger by the Rangitane from Wellington on Thursday for London. Mr. L. A. Quinn. an executive of the Fuller-Hay ward Picture Corporation, returned 'to Wellington on Thursday evening after a short b llsincss visit to Auckland. Mr. F. H. Cooke, who has held the position of Crown Solicitor in Palmerston North for many years, has resigned his office on account of ill-health .-'Mr. H. R. Cooper, of the firm of Messrs., Cooler, Rapley and Rutherford, has been appointed in his stead. The Rev. Clarence Eaton, presidentelect of the Methodist Conference of New Zealand, arrived in Christchurch this week to take up his appointment at tiui Durham Street Church. He was previously in charge of the Whitelcy Memorial Church, New Plymouth.
