EVER-READY COMMITTEE
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS The idea of combining the celebration of the 14th birthday of the ever-ready committee of the Victoria League with a reception in honour of the original members, was carried into effect at the league rooms yesterday afternoon. The over-ready committee was originally known as the Victoria League Red Cross committee, and at the close of the war the name was changed. Eleven of the original members were present yesterday afternoon, all of -whom thoroughly enjoyed talking of the time 14 years ago when the committee first commenced its activities. The present chairman of the committee, Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, welcomed the members. Miss J. A. Mowbray, president of the Victoria League, spoke about the Red Cross activities in England during the war period. Afternoon tea was served at whicn a birthday cake was cut to celebrate the occasion. The original members present were Miss Mowbray, Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, Mrs. A. E. Devore, Mrs. T. Russell, Mrs. John Reid, Mrs. Claude White, ]\lrs. L. S. Rickerby, Mrs. Buskill, Mrs* Preston Chambers, Miss Kelly and Mrs. Edger.
