MOTOR SERVICE LICENCES

DECISION AT GISBORNE FARES AND TIME-TABLES [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] GISBORNE, Friday The Mo. 4 District Traffic Licensing Authority has spent two days hearing applications for motor service licences and a revision of fares and time-tables in the Gisborne-district. On the Gisbome-Napier route the authority decided to increase the fare from 27s 6d to 3.05, with the return fare 555. An important innovation is the provision that it shall not be compulsory for all services to run cars regularly, irrespective of whether passengers are offering. The arrangement has been made that one of the threo services licensed must maintain the time-table each week, and titas,. compulsory service is to rotate weekly. In making the increase in fares it was stated that a lower rate had been fixed for the summer months. In regard to an Last Coast service between Te Araroa and Ruatoria, the authority expressed the opinion that the existing fares were too high and ordered a reduction from los to 12s 6d.
