The rooms of the Auckland Catholic Repertory Society in Wyndham Street were crowded at a meeting on Thursday to consider, the formation of a players' reading circle,- Bishop Liston, in giving his approval to the movement, pointed out the great interest and the successful work of a similar association in Dunedin. After the approval of the rules and election of officers the play, "The Duke of Orleans," was presented by Mr. Gaston Mervale, in which he took the principal role, supported by Miss Edna Craig ■ and Mrs. Verran.
