RETURNED SOLDIERS

NEWMARKET CLUB At the first annual meeting of the Newmarket Returned Soldiers' Association Social Club, held on Thursday evening, thfs vice-president, Mr. K. Mc- _ Eee, presided over a large attendance. "The annual report and balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £6 ss, were adopted. Special mention was made of the fact that £2l 15s had been expended from club funds to relieve distress among .members. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr. S. All retiring officers offering their services again were re-elected. BIRKENHEAD ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Birkenhead Ex-servicemen's Association was held on Thursday evening. The president, Mr. G. B. Chinnery, presided. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Dr» J. W. Craven; president, Mr. G. B. Chinnery; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. C. Yeomans, G. R. Hutchinson, J. Bright, J. Prickett, R. R. Hayman and J. W. Canty; committee, Messrs. B. Dingley, C. Couch, G. Kingston, G. Batty, W. B. McKinstrey, G. Burns, H. M. Hely, J. E. Goulden, A. Fraser, J.
