BOROUGH BALANCE-SHEET PROPOSED SWIMMING BATH The Mayor of Onehunga, Mr. E. Morton, announced at a meeting of tho Onehunga Borough Council last even-,, ing that the annual balance-sheet for the year ended March 31 had been com-'-' pleted* It disclosed a debit of £4,399, due largely to an abnormal amount of unpaid rates. A proposal to extend Trafalgar Street as far as Cardwell Street was approved. The Mayor said this work would involve the filling in of an old rock quarry and the closing of Nixon Street between Queen and Cardwell Streets. It was decided that the bath should bo 100 ft. wide and 132 ft. long. The Mavor said the estimate of cost was £IC73. The Works Committee was recommended to confer with the Swimming Association and submit a report to the council at its next meeting. A dispute between the Auckland Ro-> turned Soldiers' Association and the Onehunga Ex-Servicemen's Club concerning a proposed street collection on Poppy Day was settled by permission being granted to the Auckland association to take up the collection, subject to satisfactory arrangements being reached with the local club.
