FALSE FIRE ALARM
MIDDLE-AGED MAN CHARGED "T. am asking for a. remand in till* ease; there nr© further 'inquiries f,o bo made abont false fire alarms," said Defective-Sergeant MoHugh in the Polio© Court. yesterday, when Claude Alexander Basil Martin, aged- 48, was ©barged with giving a false alarm of fir© front an alarm box in Vincent Si reef on Saturday evening. Accused, who paid bo know nothing abont tho matter, was romandod for a wook by th© magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt. On a charge of drunkenness aeoused was convicted and dischavged, and for failing to comply with tho tonus of a prohibition order ho was fined £3, with tho alternative of 14 days' imprisonment.
