Ho could not enter his father's shop owing to the Nazi pickets outside. A scuffle ensued. Herr Schomm drew a revolver, which was accidentally discharged, and the bullet wounded a storm trooper named Aslialter. The storm troops thereupon broke the shop windows and arrested the family. A rumour spread that Ashalter was dead and tho mob destroyed the shop. Then they stormed the gaol where Herr Schomm was detained and riddled him with bullets. Ashalter died later. Tho boycott generally lost its force owing to to-day being the Jewish Sabbath. Many shops were closed, but 2000 employees remained idle in Wcrtheim's big store until they were sent homo. Storm troops surrounded tho Berlin Bourse and prevented Jews entering. Pickets are prominent in the streets. 'lho offices of doctors and lawyers and small shops have not been molested. AUSTRIAN TURMOIL SOCIALISTS AND NAZIS POLICE KEPT BUSY (Received April 2, 5.5 p.m.) VIENNA. April 1 In consequence of an alleged plan for widespread armed action against the Government, the Socialist Defensive Alliance has been summarily disbanded. Army detachments made a demonstration march in the city yesterday. Tho Socialist burgomaster of Seitz has retaliated against tho disbandment of the alliance (otherwise the Schutzbund) by decreeing the disbandment of the Heimwehr, tho Austrian Eascists as distinct from the Nazis. The decision was due to the Heimwehr's threat to forcibly alter the constitution. The Government has cancelled the burgomaster's decree. The police explain that they are too busy dealing with the Socialists to tackle the Heimwehr.
