Waiau Pu won by eight niatcnes to six. In presenting the shield to the winners, Mr. R. J. Glasgow congratulated 'them on their success in their first season as a club affiliated with the association. CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT [from our own correspondent] v PUKEKOHE, Saturday Excellent exhibitions of tennis were given by the finalists in the Franklin Lawn Tennis I Asociation's champion of champions tournament which was played at the Pukekohe Club's courts to-dny. The men's title was won by J. C. Charters, Aka Aka, and the ladies' event by Miss Bernice Bishop, Pollock. Charters showed good form in the final, defeating A. Papesch, Pukekohe East, o—2, 6—o. In the final for the ladies' title, Miss Bishop heat Miss Knowles, 6—2. 6—4. Miss Bishop is one of the most promising players in Franklin Association tennis and was the winner of the girls' junior - event at the Auckland championships, when she was also awarded the racquet for the most promising junior. Thames Valley won by 17 mutches to 4. Unfortunately the visitors through unforeseen circumstances were not able to send their best team of men, and Taurnnga players comprised most of the team. Prior to leaving on their return journey the visitors were entertained to an enjoyable dinner by the Thames Valley Association.
