WOMEN'S CONFERENCE

A molion was carried as an amendment to a Wellington remit, "that the National Council of Women hereby agrees to tho nee'd for moro creative occupation for women patients, and desires to approach tho Health Department with a view to inquiring in what way tho Council of Women may be of assistance to tho staffs of mental hospitals." Remits were carried urging (1) tho extension of tho daylight saving period to April 30 each year; (2) that chemists bo not allowed to sell contraceptives to persons under .17; (3) the more se'vero punishment of motorists who, when to any degree under the inlluenco of alcohol, are responsible for accidents or death; (4) greater privacy in Courts where affiliation, matrimonial and maintenance cases aro lic'ard.
