STRIKE IN ESSEX
FORD FACTORY WORKERS CUT IN WAGES RESENTED (Received March 28, 5.13 p.m.) LONDON, March 27 Three thousand of tlTe 7000 employees at the.Ford factory in Dagenham, Essex, the largest in Europe, struck without the sanction of- the union, owing to reduc-. tions in wages ranging from 3d to /d an hour. The company asserts that the reduced wages exceed the minimum fixed bv the trade unions. Strikers in subsidiary factories bring the total now idle to 8000. The strikers blocked traffic and prevented clerks from returning to work. They also picketed j the road six deep outside double barri- i cades which the company had erected to j prevent a rush on the factory. The Times says the strike, which is ; being directed by a. union official, not an employee, is an attempt by prominent officials of the Engineering Union to establish a branch in the works with the ; company's recognition. ___
