ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
COMMENT BY MR. FORBES AWAITING DEVELOPMENTS "The whole thing seems to be very much up in the air. We have had no communications about it for a long time, and wo have made no definite arrangements," said tlie Prime Minister, the lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes, yesterday, when iisked whether he could verify a published statement that he himself would shortly be departing for the World Economic Conference. Mr.- Forbes said that he had really nothing to add to what he had said on the subject last Friday. Apparently the conference was still some distance off and a good deal would depend upon the results of preliminary consultations between the principal Powers, particularly those now in progress between the Gov ernments of Britain and the United States. He had no doubt that when arrangements took Inore definite shape New Zealand would be promptly advised con corning them. " In the meanwhile we can only go on and attend to our own affairs," ho remarked.
