AUCKLAND CENTRE AX APPEAL DISMISSED The appeal of G. I'. Clark, against the referee's decision in allowing M;- P: Byrnes to start in the third' Ireat' of a recent race after _ puncturing, was not - upheld aa meeting of the Auckland Amateur Cycling Centre last evening. It-wan pointed; out that the rules left the decision to the discretion of the referee.It was decided to reeomtnend that, provided there is an accident within- 15 yards of tho start, the starter must rule no start. If. however, an accident occurs before ■ a specified distance from the finish and the referee is satisfied that the rider did not enter tho accident intentionally then lie may allow tho rider to start in another heat. This will Hot apply to a final.' The Takapuna Club was granted permission to change its open race on May 20 to six laps. The Auckland Ladies' Club was granted permission to conduct n,n onen race and an open junior race at "Western Springs next "Wednesday. The application for reinstatement of R. R. "Webster was approved with the centre's reronimendal ion that it be granted. The Whnluitano Ladies' Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club was granted affiliation subject to corrections in its application.
