DROWNED IN HARBOUR
FATE OF YOUNG WOMAN
FIREMAN ATTEMPTS RESCUE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Monday An attempt to rescue a young woman from the harbour was made this afternoon by W. J. Jones, a fireman on the steamer Ardenvohr, which was berthed at Taranaki Street wharf. Jones was talking with a mate on the stern of the ship when he saw a body in the water and without liesiation he dived overboard and brought it to the wharf landing, a distance of about 100 yards. Members of the crew of the ship applied artificial respiration for some time, but without success. The police were communicated with and the body was later identified as that of Miss Janet Moss, aged 23 years. Her parents live at Dunedin.
