Small and inferior apples were not wanted and cookers were dull of sale. Bon Cretien and Louis Bon pears rose on sale, the demand being very fair, but cooking pears were in poor demand. Lines of good quality peaches were in request, but other lines wero hard to quit. Plums sold at unchanged rates, bift the inquiry was weaker. Only choice lines of tomatoes changed hands, fruit with cracks being practically unsaleable. There .was a satisfactory demand for bananas at about 4s a case higher. Consignments of Te Kauwhata grapes were available, selling freely. Blackberries also had a brisk sale. The vegetable market was; heavily supplied with kumaras and potatoes, but prices were steady. Cauliflower, pumpkins and beans were other lines in large supply, the first-named dropping on sale by about Is a sack. Beans were secured 6d a bag lower at from Is to 2s 6d a bag. The supply of poultry was heavy, the demand being fair. Prices were on a par with last week. Egg prices were unchanged, an average supply coming forward.
