BRISK TRADING RECORDED

Brisk trading, with a. widespread demand, marked operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. After a firming movement on the previous day, the muket for Government securities was weaker, only the 4£ per cents being sought. Offers for these receded to £94 10s, a fall the bonds of 10s and in 1938 gtock of £l. Early sales took place in 1938 ljonds unchanged at £96 and in 1938 stock 5s lower at j£9s 15s. Operations in banks were extended, inquiry a shade stronger for the Australian issues. New South Wales wore taken twice unchanged at, £2B 10s, after which offers, were slightly higher at £2B 7s 6d. quotations advancing by 7s 6d to £29. Two sales in Commercials unchanged at 14s 7d had no effect on levels.

National insurance, which has been gaining ground steadily, advanced on sale by lid to 15s 3d, while levels were ;» >hade firmer? N6 further business was recorded in the section.

The general sections were more active. In'the agency group, trading in New Zealand Guarantee Corporation Is higher at 6s 6d and //Loan and Mercantiles unchanged at £39 was the outcome of a better, demand. Westport. Coals were done 7rl higher at lis and Devonport Ferrys changed hands at 19s, and advance of 9d. Huddart-Farkers sold at 28s 9d, a rise 6f 2s 3d over a period of three months Electrolytic Zinc, pref., gained 3d on sale at 28s 3d. Dominion Breweries shares of £l, which were listed as from yesterday, were sought at 10s, and were available at lis.

Conditions in mining were steady, sales in Mt. Lyells at 20s 3d and Waitahus at 4s 9d being at unchanged rates. Gillespie's Beach dropped on'sale bv 2d to -is 5d and Paddy's Points gained 4d to sell at 6s 3d.
