PROBLEMS IN APPAREL VAGARIES OF THE WEATHER Showery weather acted as rather a check oil ideas for elaborate frocking at the first day of. the Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday. The weather was intensely hot and varied from heat showers to spells of beautiful sunshine, the vagaries of such a day making the choice of suitable apparel rather a difficult matter. A large number of the women racegoers compromised on a frock of heavy printed silk material with a light summer coat close at hand, while others considered only the heat and appeared in flimsy summer garb. G. Hitchings, black satin suit and wide-brimmed black felt hat; Mrs. Frank Murphy, buttercup Shantung frock and cocoa brown Bangkok hat; Mrs. A. Renshaw, navy and white figured crepe de chine frock and white spun silk turban hat; Miss Margery Ryan, shell pinjc and blue floral georgette frock and picture hat of Leghorn straw; Miss Mary Wathew, fawn frock with a white fur necklet, and nigger brown straw hat; Miss Marie Drys'dale, orchid and cherry floral crepe de chine frock and orchid-coloured Bangkok hat to match; Miss Lulu Drysdale, canary-yellow and beige striped crepe de chine frock and beige, straw hat: Miss Betty Hitchings, duchess blue and whits checked organdie frock and duchess blue beret to match: Miss Kathleen Waters, corn-coloured Shantung frock and nigger brown Bangkok hat.
