FASTED TO DEATH
How a man of 59, in excellent health, suddenly refused to take any food, saying he was sure it would. kill him, was related at an inquest at Romford, Essex, on James Charles Hammond, a salesman, of Sevenoaks. Hammond starved himself for a fortnight. Medical evidence was to the effect that death was clue •> to heart disease accelerated by insufficient nourishment, due to his refusal to take food. A verdict accordingly was returned*
