KOTORUA TOURNAMENT VICTORY FOR HAMILTON ONEHUNGA RINK DEFEATED [BY TELEGRArH —OWN COR RESPONDENT] ■ROTORUA, Friday The Rotorua Bowling Club's annual tournament was concluded to-day. Pilkington (Hamilton;, defeating Robertson (Oneliunga) in the final. 24—15. In the eliminating match for the semifinals, Butt (Rotorua) beat Stewart (Matamaln), 26 —12. In tho semi-finals Robertson beat Truscott (Carlton), 30—8, and Pilkington beat Butt, 25—20. There was a large number of spectators throughout the day. The weather remained fine until about five o'clock, when the 10th head of the final game was in progress, and a heavy shower stopped play for a short time. The eliminating game was betiyeen Butt (Rotorua) and Stewart and resulted in an easy win fpr Rotorua, the game being declared at the 18th head—Butt, 20, Stewart, 12. .In the semi-finul between Robertson (OnehungO and Truscott (Carlton), Robertson had tho game from the start. Truscott's rink failed badly. The game was declared at the 17th head, the scores being: Robertson, 30, Truscott, 8. Tho eenu-flnal between Pilkington (Hamilton) and Butt (Rotorua) was closely fought. At tile 10th head the scores were equal, 9—9. The game continued very even. Butt being four points behind ai the 18th. Ihe final score was: Pilkington, 25, Butt, 20. The rinks in the final were: Sutherland, Sayers, Livingstone, Robertson (Onehunga), v. Pomeroy, Darlington, Hawkens, Pilkington (Hamilton). In the first head, Robertson scored one ! point. Livingstone came on to kitty with a good draw, but did not move it. In the second head, Pilkington drew on Robertson, gaining one point, which brought the scores equal. In the next head Pilkington got in his last bowl with a good drawing shot, gaining three points. In the fourth head Robertson added another point to his Fcore and in the fifth head Robertson, with a good drive when Livingstone was lying three, put kitty into the ditch, cutting out the score. Pilkington, however, with a beautiful draw, secured one point. Tho fifth head was very close, when Hawken, with a toucher, drew the head one up— Pilkington, 7, Robertson, 2. In the eighth head. Darlington put up two good bowls, Pilkington standing at three up. Robertson made two drives, but missed. Robertson in the ninth head, with two good drawing shots, scored two points. In the 10th head Pilkington was lying four down ami Hawken, with a good drive, killed the head. In further play, Hawken put in two splendid shots on kitty, and Pilkington, with two good training shots, brought the score up another five points On. tho head. Scores, 15—4. Robertson scored two points in the 11th head, and in the 12th Pilkington i\dded another three points. Robertson made good in the 13th head by gaining four points, the scores being: Pilkington, 18, Robertson, 10. Pilkington gained another two points in the 14th head and the scores in the 15th were equal. Pilkingtoii gained another two points in tho 16th and 17th heads, and Robertson scored one, the scores being: Pilkington, 22, Robertson, 11. Livingstone drove kitty into tho ditch in the 18th head when Pilkington was lying two up, Robertson gaining two points. In the next head Sutherland, with a toucher and a good draw, put two up. Hawkens, with a drive, altered the second by gaining two points. Robertson, with a good draw eventually secured another two points, the scores being: Pilkington, 22, Robertson 15. Sutherland drew one in the next head and Livingstone also put in another good bowl. With a neat drive Pilkington cut the head, gaining two points, and the game finished: Pilkington, 21, Robertson, 15. TE AWAMUTU TOURNAMENT [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AWAMUTU. Friday The final game of the Te Awamutu Bowling Club's full-rink tournament commenced on Wednesday was played yesterday afternoon. On Wednesday seven of the eleven heads had been played, W. J. North's team having scored eight to T. W. Gee's five. Yesterday Gee got a three to equalise, North a single on tho ninth, Gee two on the tenth and two on the final head, giving him the victory by 13 points to 9. The winning team was H. Brill, S. Clark, L. G. Armstrong and T. W. Gee. Eight rinks of Cambridge bowlers aro to play an inter-club match at Te Awamutu oil Saturday. At the Bame time the Leamington, Te Kiiiti, Otorohanga and Te Awamutu Clubs' singles champions will meet for the South Auckland Cenlre's championship series in the south-western area. The winner will later meet the winners of the other Eections at Hamilton for the centre championship. PLAY AT WHANGARET [Bl- telegraph—own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Friday There was a fairly largo attendance of bowlers on the Whangarei Bow-ling Club's greens yesterday afternoon. The weatner was fine. The full-rink competition for the club's fours has been completed as far as tho Thursday section is concerned, being «on by Conway, Sothern. M'dlins. Coburn. with six wins and one loss. The winners of the Salmday section should be determined next. Saturday. The following championship single games were played yesterday afternoon: — Ecclea, 18, v, Coburn, 17; Miller, 24, v. Dr. Good. 19; Eccles, 19, v. Amos. 14; Coburn, 18, v. Sothern, 17; Sothern, 29, v. .Amos, 19; Colnirn, 21, v. Amos, 9. A team from Hikurangi played a local team, the result being as follows—Young, McDonald. Scott, Wood (Hikurangi), .21, v. A. Chissell. Evans, Wilding, Courtney (Whangarei), 16.
