MAN FINED FOR ASSAULT INSULTING LANGUAGE " Accused knocked a man down in the street and then .used obscene language," said Detective-Sergeant Kelly in the Police Court yesterday, when Clyde Alexander Smith was charged with assaulting another man, and using obscene langulge. Defendant was fined £1 and costs on the assault charge, and was convicted and ordered to pay costs for the other offence. A fine of £1 was imposed on Phillip Castle, a taxi-driver, for using insulting language. George Edward Simpson was fined 10s for a similar offence.
