LESS 'BUOYANT TONE
There was a greater restriction of trading on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday,., a less, buoyant tone prevailing, l'he P er cent Government, loans were keenly sought, offers advancing by from 6s to 10s. Parcels of 1938 stock and bonds were released 10s higher at £96. The. 1937 per September bonds changed hands 17s 6d lower at £IOO 10s. There was 6 sale in 1937 5£ per cent slock at £96 12-s 6d, a rise of 22s 6cl. : i The banks group was extremely dull, the bidding disclosing no movement of jiote. Holders of Commercials and English. Scottish and Australians marked down : > their limits, but buyers were not attracted. Bank of New South Wales had sale 7s 6rl higher at £2B 12s 6d. Operations in the , insurance section narrowed down to the leading issues. Holders of South British end New Zealands, who made forward movements, were not followed by buyers. After a perirfd of inactivity buyers were Bgain in the, market for Australian industrials. Offers for Australian Glass rose by 6d to 45s 6cl/ and British Tobaccos were s sought a similar amount higher at 335. For Colonial Sugars buying limits rose at the final call by 7s 6d to £53 5s and a / lot was accepted 10s higher at £53 10s. Brewery shares were a shade firmer, but interest in these was not widespread. j: ' Except for returning confidence in Waihis and Junctions, causing an advance in levels, the mining market was .. unchanged. Offers for Waihis rose by 4d to 21s lOd, the. movement being accompanied by three sales at 225, an advance of 3d. Sellers were quoted 3d higher at 2?s 3d. Waihi Junctions, which were again available at 3s Bd, were sought Id higher •t -3s sd.
