HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST HEAVY RAIN INDICATED The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening;— The extensive depression from the Tasman Sea has moved on to the South Island, and i$ gradually extending northward. Cloudy and unsettled leather is indicated, with rain generally, heavy in western districts. Thunder probable in northern districts, and in places near the west coast. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times. Rough seas southward of Capo Egmont and East Capo. TiOcal outlook : Heavy rain is indicated. Warm and humid conditions. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A rather deep and complex depression extends over the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Indications are for fresh to strong northerly to westerly winds of galo force in parts of the Cook Strait area, backing temporarily to southerly in the southern half of the South Island. Seas rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong variable winds, with nertherly to-westerly ruling; seas rough. Weather unsettled and changeable, with intermittent rain in most districts and some heavy falls. Thunder in places.
