CARNIVAL ENDED
GAIETY AT NAPIER BRIGHT SCENES IN STREETS [by telegraph—press association] NAPIER, Monday Scenes of gaiety marked the closing of the "Rebuilt Napier" carnival on Saturday evening, when a crowd estimated to bo in the vicinity of 25,000 was in the streets. A masked parade included over 2000 people and -was headed by three bands.
At midnight "Auld Lang Syne" was sung by thousands. It was a fitting finale to a week of jollity.
