LABOUR ORGANISATION
PROPOSED JOINT COUNCIL Messrs. J. Purtoll and J. Liddell, representing the trades unions, and F. Lark, representing the unemployed workers' organisation, have been appointed as a committeo to draft a constitution for an Auckland joint council, with tho objective of bringing all trades unions in the Auckland district under one council, which would take the place of the Trades and Labour Council and the Alliance of Labour.
A provisional committeo is already operating, and if the proposal is brought to fruition there will be joint councils in all tho centres and also, a national body in Wellington, which will act as a central committee. Tho movement is the outcome of a conference of trades unions held in Wellington last year.
