TROTTING NOTES

POI INJURES FORELEG

Poi, who was making good progress in her training at Epsom, is again on the easy list as the result of severely cutting one of her forelegs in a wire. P. J. Smith has been unfortunate with Poi, who was put out of work when showing good track form in the spring, as there were no classes to suit her at that period. Netherton, the hall-brother to Carmel and The Abbey, who was for a time last season trained by \V. Willetts at Epsom, is now in \V. Hughes' stable at Feilding. Netherlon was given a race at Wellington recently, and made a creditable showing for a mile. He may do better on the ManawatuTaranaki circuit. J. T. Paul has named his fine-looking Travis Axworthy—Bertha Belle two-year-old colt .Ringtrue. Tho youngster, who claims an engagement in tlio New Zealand Sapling Slakes at Asliburton later in tho season, is a half-brother to Great Bingen and Peter Bingen and Great Parrish. After an absence from the track for two seasons tho galloping trainer F. Gilchrist is to again participate in trotting and is educating a very fine-looking pacing mare by Matchlight from Fancy Pointer. The inare was bred by Mr. F. J. Doclierty, for whom Gilchrist successfully- trained the trotters Etta Cole and Direct Action. Etta Cole, who at one stage gave promise of develop; ing into a high-class trotter, did much better for Gilchrist than for several other trainers. Gilchrist also achieved some success with Goldman when previously associated with trotting. The trainer W. Dyer, who has been located at Hawera for tho Inst 12 months, has returned to Epsom. If inducement offers 110 will probably remain here for a few months. Dyer was for some time pssociated with Mr. J. It. Corrigan's stable at Hawqra and afterwards won races in Taranaki with Tui Corojiado and La Campionc.

KOLMAR GOES SOUTH After his very fine form two seasons back the trotter lvolmar found, himself on a fairly tight mark and his opportunities have been limited, owing to the loosening of limits and the elimination of two-miles trotters' races. As a result Kolmar has been sent to Addingtou to bo trained by J. J. Kennerloy in the hope that he will Ret more races to suit him there. Kolmar has been nominated for tho Spreydon Handicap. 3.32 limit, and Cashmere Handicap. 4.40 limit, at the Addington meeting next month. When Kolmar visited Epsom at Christmas ho was in splendid condition and worked particularly well for J. Edwards. However, off a 3.29 mark with limits of 3.37 he had no chance with improving trotters like Garner, Bessie Parrish and Parrish Bolle, who were registering faster time than Kolmar was handicapped on. HORSES FOR TAKAPUNA The Gisborne trainer, A. D. Adams, who has been at Ellerslio with Merry Damon, Sunny Sky and Sunny Bachelor since last month, has transferred his charges to Takapuna and will remain there with them until after the Takapuna Jockey Club's meeting on Saturday and Monday. The horses have all been working nicely since running solid races at tho summer carnival at Ellerslie and should possess good prospects at the week-end.
