CANADIAN NEGOTIATIONS DAIRY CATTLE FOR OIL OTTAWA, Dec. 27 Negotiations . between Canada and Russia, which are now in progress, may result in the sale to Russia of 100,000 head of Canadian cattle, chiefly dairy stock, according to information obtained from persons associated with the negotiations.
When inquiry was • made in Government circles, it was indicated that no announcement would be . made until the negotiations were at a more advanced stage.
The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Robert Weir, admitted that he had been working for several weeks on a proposal to exchange Russian oil for Canadian cattle.
According to well-informed interests a company would be organised in Winnipeg to deal with Russia if negotiations were successful.
