Tire machine fell 50ft. and the pilot, Mr. Drayton, was crushed to death by the engine. An American passenger, a surveyor, whose name is given as either L. Harper or Taylor, was burned to death within the view of his wife and child. The American was almost rescued, but one foot became entangled in the wreckage, and the flames spread so rapidly that the rescuers were driven off and the victim was left to his fate.
