Then M. I'. Byrnes, winner of more provincial track championship titles than any other cyclist at present racing, made his initial ride, other than training efforts, on the track. Byrnes reduced the time to 13 4-ss, riding an 85in. gear. Byrnes' effort necessitated the, holder defending his title. Dwight met the occasion by completing a lap in 18 3-ss, thus retaining the hlito sash presented by tho I'apatoetoe Club. Miss V. The only Manukan ridor to secure a win was IT. li.. Dwight. Dwight won the "rniss-ancl-oul" scratch race, in which XI starter]. The improving Papatoetoe rider I. C. Bellini ran Dwight to a length.
