THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE INCREASE IN ACTIVITY Conditions on tlio Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday were less restricted and an increased turnover resulted. Of the 36 tales registered three were of Government securities. The 1946, 5 per cent stock •was released for the first time this year, the price being £92. Both 1939. 4J>- per cent, stock, and 1937, 5 1-8 per cent stock, dropped £2 10s on transactions last month, selling at £93 and £95 respectively. Willi the exception of 1937 issues bonds were not sought, and there were no sellers. In local body -debentures Auckland Harbour Boards, 1948, per cent, gold at £9B 10s, an advance of ss. Little movement occurred in banks, late levels being generally maintained. New Zealands, which have been selling at 42s 3d, again changed hands at that figure. At the, tin.il call they wcro sought at 42s 6d, holders asking 445, compared witn 42s 3d and 42s 6d on Monday. New South Wales and Nationals of New Zealand were unchanged. Tn the insurance group holders of New Zealands reduced their price bv 3d to 42s 6d, and sellers of South British advanced 6d to 535. In each case buyers remained steady. With the exception of mining, the other sections were somewhat dull. Northern Steamship, contributing, sold 2d lower at 2s Id, and New Zealand Ttefrigeratings dropped 6d to sell at 9s. In mining Waihis were keenly sought, four parcels being transferred at prices ranging from 18s lOd to 19s 3d. At the last previous sale on December 1, the price was 18s 6d. The onlv other sales were two parcels of King Solomons Id higher at 2s sd.
