CONTRACT BRIDGE LAWS

NEW SCORING SYSTEM INTERNATIONAL CODE A new code of laws for contract bridge, promulgated by the Portland Club, the Whist Club of New York and the Commission Francaise du Bridge, officially came into force on November 7. An article explaining the principal changes will be published in the Herald Supplement on Saturday. Extensive changes have been made in the scoring system. The new scoring table is as follows:

*N.B.—Pennlties iji similar progression for further under!ricks. A redouble doubles (he doubled points in both trick score and premium score. The total penalties for undertricks are: —Not vulnerable doubled or vulnerable undoubled:, One trick, 100; two tricks, 250: three tricks, 450; four tricks, 700; five tricks, 1000, and so on. These penalties are doubled for a doubled vulnerable contract.
