GREAT WATERWAY
SUGGESTION IN AMERICA
PURCHASE OF CANADIAN AREAS
WASHINGTON. Nov. 1G Mr. Peter Teneyck, president of the New York Waterways Associations, advocated to-day that the United States should purchase New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and a part of Southern Quebec from Canada. He was giving evidence before the Senate' 6 Sub-committee on Foreign Relations. Mr Teneyck suggested the purchase of the Canadian territory, he said, so as to give the United States half the benefits of the proposed international St. Lawrence waterways scheme. The United States has already purchased land from other nations—notably Alaska, from Russia, and the Virgin Islands, off the coast of Florida, from Denmark.
