CAPETOWN. Nov. 21
A South African airman, George Kerr, of Durban, established a parachute jump record of 17,300 feet, He stated that h<j began losing strength at 17,000 feet and let go without warning the pilot of the aeroplane. Kerr fell hundreds of feet before pulling the ripcord. He swung violently and the cold turned to warmth. He smoked cigarettes and chewed biscuits to counteract a feeling of sickness. He drifted 10 miles and took 20 minutes to descend.
