OBITUARY
SIR CHARLES CLUBBE
NOTED SYDNEY SURGEON SYDNEY, Nov. 22 The death has occurred of Sir Charles Percy Barlee Clubbe, at. the age of 78. He was one of Sydney's leading surgeons. He had been prominently associated witli child welfare for the past 25 years.
The late Sir Charles Clubbe was born at Hughendon, Buckinghamshire, England, and was educated at Uppingham and St. Barts. He was president of and honorary consulting surgeon to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, chairman and vice-president of the New South Wales branch of the Bush Nursing Association, vice-president of the Royal Welfare Society, consulting surgeon to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital the Coast Hospital Deaf, Dumb and Blind Institution, and Greycliffe Hospital for Babies. Formerly Sir Charles was lecturer in clinical surgery at Sydney University, honorary surgeon to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children for 36 years and honorary surgeon to the Royal Prince Allied Hos: pital for 19 years. Sir Charles founded the diphtheria department at the Glebe, Sydney, and upon the introduction of anti-toxin lie was one of the first to recognise its value. In the South African War he was civil surgeon to the Army Medical Department. He was the author of'"The Diagnosis and Treatment of Intus-susception, a workquoted as the standard authority in Bntish and American surgeries. He was created a K.B.E. in 1927.
