AMERICAN TENNIS TEAM
BIG TAKINGS IN AUSTRALIA
Tremendous public interest is being taken in Australia in the visit of tho American lawn tennis team. When its members met and defeated the New South Wales representatives many people were waiting when the gates opened at 10 o'clock on the Saturday. They arrived in hundreds from 12.30, and the official attendance was 7975. Not since the French players were over in 1928 had such a vast crowd assembled on the ground. Every seat was occupied; some thousands stood patiently for hours. The courts were perfect. The takings for the three days amounted to £3283, Saturday returning £1825 of this amount.
