At the Sydney wool sales to-day 10,744 bales were offered and 9833 were sold. Also 1425 bales were sold privately. Ihc market was without change. Prices ruled very firm and there were good clearances. Greasy Merino sold to 18£ d.

SWAN BREWERY PROFIT
IMPROVEMENT IN HALF-YEAR
Net profits of £28,541 are shown in the accounts of the Swan Brewery, Limited, Victoria, for the half-year ended September 30, an improvement of £8353 in comparison with the corresponding half of last year. The dividend, as announced in the Herald on November 11, is again 6 per cent on ordinary shares, requiring £25,527. After paying £ISOO for preference dividend, £27,137 is being carried forward.

VALUES FIRM, BUSINESS QUIET
LONDON, Nov. ill On the Bradford tops market values are firmly maintained but, business is quiet awaiting the London wool sales.
ALBERTA WHEATGROWERS STATE RELIEF DEMANDED VANCOUVER. Nov. 21 A message from Fairvicw, Alberta, states that immediate relief for wheatgrowers by bringing the Canadian dollar to a par with sterling, wit'll a renewal of the wheat bonus, was demanded by a mass meeting of farmers. The Prime Minister, Mr. R. B. Bennett, was also urged to secure at a conference of representatives of the wheat countries some arrangement for the control of acreage.

INCREASE AT GISBORNE

Prospects are brigtiicr for the frozen meat market. Gisborne buying rates have gone up in sympathy with Snrithfield, the rise since last being per 11). for both mutton and lamb. The beef schedule remains unaltered.
This is the first occasion for a number of years that an increase in lamb or mutton buying rates has been registered since the opening prices were announced.
GOLD AND SILVER
QUOTATIONS IN LONDON
(Received November 22. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 21 Gold is quoted to-day at £6 5s 6d an oz., compared with £6 *ss on Saturday. Silver is quoted at 18 l-16d an oz. spot and 18 l-8d forward, same as on Saturday. The quotation for silver at per standard oz. is 18 l-16d and at per fine oz. 19id, compared with 18 1-Bd ,nnd 19 9-16 d on November 17.

Joseph Nathan and Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from Trengrouse and Nathan, Ltd. : —Butter: Finest, 89s; first, 88s. The market is very slow.
MOTUROA OILFIELDS
LAST WEEK'S PRODUCTION
Moturoa Oilfields, Limited, reports as follows upon operations at New Plymouth during the week ended November 19:— Moturoa No. 3 well drilled to 81ft. in volcanic agglomerate and heavy boulders. Fifteen-inch casing to 64ft. No. 2 well production, 115 barrels (4025 imperial gallons).
GOOD TALLOW DEMAND
HEMP MARKET DULL
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated November 19, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow. —There was a good demand for all descriptions at auction. Of 337 casks offered 336 were sold at 9d advance. Present spot quotations are:—Mutton, fine, 275; fair to good, 24s to 265; dark to dull, 21s to 225. Beef, sweet and/or mixed, 25s to 28s; fair to good, 22s 6d to 24s 6(1; dark to dull, 20s 6d to 21s 6d. Mixed, fair, to good, 22s 6d to 245; dark to dull, 19s 6d to 21s 6d. Gut, etc., 19s to 21s 6d.
Hemp.—The, Manila market is steady. Buyers' value for "K" grade for Decem-ber-February shipment, £l6 ss. Output from January 1 to November 14, 776,000 bales, against 945,000 bales for the same period last year. Stocks in the United Kingdom at October 31, 21,556 bales, against 23,874 bales at the same time last year. Stocks in Manila at November 14, 148.000 bales, against 125,000 at the same time last year. Tlie sisal market is quiet at last rates quoted. The New Zealand market continues dull. Offerings are small and buyers are not interested. Values are nominally unchanged. Stocks in London at October 31, 76 tons, against 18 tons at the same time last year.
Eggs.—The market was steady during the week, but weaker at the close. English, national pack, 21s 6d to 255; English, ordinary pack, 21s to 22s 6d ; Danish, 18s to 23s 6d; Australian, 12s 6d to 14s 6d; New Zealand, 151b. to 1711). per long hundred, 13s to 14s 6d.
BRITISH WAR LOAN British Wireless RUGBY, Nov. 21 British War Loan, 3£ per cent (assented), is quoted at "£96 10s, compared with £97.12s 6d on November 18,.
