TE AWAMUTU PROPOSAL
SCHEMES TO RAISE FUNDS

TE AWAMUTU. Tuesday
At a largely-attended meeting of representatives of practically all the public bodies in To Awamutu, held last evening to consider means of providing buildings on Albert Park, it was decided to apply to the Government for permission to promote an art union, with prizes aggregating £4OOO or £SOOO, the proceeds to be devoted to the provision of facilities for the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the various recreation bodies in and near To Awamutu.
The meeting decided to form the To Awamutu Advancement Association to forward the project, with tho Mayor, Mr. C. G. Downes, as chairman, Air. S. O. Macky, chairman of Waipa County Council, as vice-chairman, and Mr. J. G. Wynyard as secretary.
it was also decided to recommend to the executive the desirability of holding a queen carnival in Te Awamutu, prob ably during February.
