WAR TENSIONS APPEALS
AUCKLAND APPLICATIONS
MORE THAN 170 DEALT WITH
More than 170 applications have been considered by t!:e War Pensions Appeal Board since it mmmenced its sittings in Auckland on As;:;ust 30. It will continue to deal with applicants in Auckland until next Tuesday, and will then leave for Dunodir., Christchurch and Wellington, where further sittings will be held. Sir Walter Stringer is chairman ot the board, the other members being Dr. W. N. Abbott, representing the Government, and Dr. W. Guthbort McCaw, representing the Returned Soldiers' Association.
The cases dealt with include applications by returned soldiers for a further assessment of their pensions with a view to an increase, petitions by widows that, tho deaths of their husbands were duo to war injuries, and applications for pensions by ox-sorvicermen submitting that they are suffering disabilities as a result of the war. Jt is submitted in tho majority of tho latter cases that tho applicants are suffering from the effects of gas poisoning.
