OBITUARY

MR. DAVID MURRAY.

The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. David Murray at his home, 39 Valley Road, Mount Eden, in his BStli year. Born at Alyth, Perthshire, Scotland, he went to Australia with, his parents at an early age. In 1860 Mr. Murray entered the service of the Victorian Education Department, and 20 years later he was appointed headmaster of the Outran) School, Otago. Ho transferred to the North-east Valley School, Dunedin, in 1888, and occupied the headmastership until his retirement. Mr. Murray came to Auckland in 1922, residing in Mount Eden. He is survived by five sons and two daughters.

MR. B. B. ROYAL [from our own correspondent] WAIUKU, Monday The death has occurred at Waiuku of Mr. Banks Butler Royal, aged 69 years Born in Portland, Oregon, Mr. Royal was a son of the late Dr. W. B. Royal. He came to New Zealand about 40 years ago and married a member of a wellknown family at Thames. They lived at Auckland until Mrs. Royal's death about 1.3 years ago, when Mr. Royal moved to Waiuku. Mr. Royal was an enthusiastic gardener and a genuine lover of flowers. He was known as a man with a remarkably retentive memory and knowledge of languages. He is survived by one son, Mr. Allan Royal, of Wellington, and one daughter, Mrs. S. Ivralievich. of Waiuku. There are three grandchildren. "

MRS. MARGARET McKEOWN [FROM OUR OWN correspondent]

PUKEKOHE. Monday

The death occurred on Saturday of Mrs. Margaret Ann McKeown, aged 92 years, at her residence, Hall Street, Pukekohe. Mrs. McKeown was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, and married the late Mr. Thomas McKeown after she came to New Zealand. They lived at Christchurch and at Stratford, where Mr. McKeown was in business, and also near New Plymouth, where they were engaged in farming. Sixteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. McKeown came to Pukekohe. Mrs. McKeown was a keen supporter of the Methodist Church. Her husband died about six years ago and she is survived by four son s and three daughters. There are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MRS. K. M. BONEHAM [from our own correspondent]

CAMBRIDGE, Monday

The death occurred at Hamilton on Saturday night of Mrs. Katherine Meriam Boneham, wife of Mr. James Boneham. and eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Bertelsen, of Roto-o-rangi, after a short illness. Mrs. Boneham was well known in the Waikato before her marriage as Nurse Bertelsen.
