NEW LYNN EXHIBITION

MANY MAGNIFICENT ROSES

The New Lynn and District, Horticultural Society, assisted by the New Lynn Women's Institute, held a spring show in St. Thomas' Hall, New Lynn, on Saturday. There were many magnificent roses, especially those exhibited by Mrs C. F. Gardner, who for the second year in succession won the Crum Cup. Competition was confined in the flower section to comparatively few growers. The industrial section was a feature, but the cookery exhibits were not as large as usual. The awards are as follows: —

BLOOMS AT WARKWORTH HIGH QUALITY SHOWN [from our own correspondent] WARKWORTH, Saturday An excellent display of blooms was presented at the annual spring (lower show of the Warkworth Beautifying Society, held in the Warkworth Town Hall yesterday, when the high standard achieved made the task of the judge, Mr. Allen, of Buckland, very difficult. In the flower section Mrs. F. Miller annexed the prize for the champion rose, a Lemon Pillar, while Mrs. J. Morrison took the principal points prizes. A feature of the show was the large entry in the decorative section, while the children's classes were also accorded keen interest. About 60 entries were received from primary school pupils in an essay competition, the subject being >l jh Q Native Flora, of New Zealand.
