BASIS OF VALUATION THE PECUNIARY STANDARD "Your duty is to estimate from a pecuniary point of view the pecuniary loss—net the mental loss—due to the untimely death of a breadwinner," said Mr. Justice Blair, in explaining to a jury in the Supreme Court at Palmerston North last week the provisions of the Deaths by Accident Compensation Act, 1908. The Jjidge stated that it was not a question of what dependants of the deceased person required to maintain themselves, but whiit was to have been expected by the widow from her husband had ho lived.
