HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST TEMPORARILY FAIR AND WARMER The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening;— Another and intense westerly storm system is moving on to the Dominion from the Tasman Sea, and a narrow ridge of h'.gli barometric pressure covers New Zealand. Fair and warmer weather is expected temporarily, followed by increasing cloudiness and succeeded by a ronewal of squally and unsettled weather, with rain in most districts, particularly in western areas. Westerly winds, moderate to strong, freshening, and gradually veering to north, then increasing strong to gale, especially in places southward of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas becoming rough and increasing generally. Local outlook: Temporarily fair and warmer, then clouding over, and heavy rain, with boisterous conditions, following. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.10 in. Midnight, Sunday .. .. 30.00 in, Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 68deg.; minimum, 59deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, but a fairly deep depression is advancing across tho south Tasman Sea. Indications are for southwesterly winds at first north of New Plymouth and Napier, clsewliero variable, but northerlies soon prevailing and becoming strong in and south of Cook Strait. Seas smooth to moderate, later rising south from Cape Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly winds; seas becoming rough. Weather fair to fine at first and becoming warm, but unsettled conditions with rain developing in districts with a westerly aspect and in tho far south.
