VICTORIA'S BIG WIN QUEENSLAND'S WORST DEFEAT (Received October 31, 7.5 p.m.) BRISBANE. Oct, 31 Victoria defeated Queensland to-day in the first Sheffield Shield cricket match by an innings and 329 runs. The scores were: —Victoria, first innings, 552. Queensland, first innings, 54; second, 169 (Hansen 59 and Gougli 34). Fleetwood-Smith took two wickets for 77, Blackie two for 19 and Alexander two for 21. This is the worst defeat ever suffered by a Queensland team. .
