CHEAP MOTOR FUEL
SUBSTITUTE FOR PETROL MANUFACTURE AT BELFAST 3. * —"— LONDON, Oct. 30 The Belfast correspondent of tjie Daily Express states tli.it three chemists at the Belfast gasworks have perfected the discovery of creosote, oil as a substitute for petrol, which they believe will ultimately halve Britain's motor fuel bill. The Bel fast gasworks are producing the new fuel at a rate of 500,000 gallons a year, and it is being eagerly snapped up at 6d a gallon. A local bus company, which converted its fleet to its use, has effected a saving of one penny a mile, and 100 private car owners are using it. In London several provincial and city bus companies are experimenting with the oil, which is already being produced at Manchester. The formula has been broadcast throughout the Empire. A representative of the Commonwealth Government who studied the methods has recommended the encouragement of the production of the oil all over Australia.
