OPERETTA AT HUIA

SCHOOL FUND BENEFIT The school at Huia was filled by a very appreciative audience on the occasion of tlie presentation by the local branch of the Workers' Educational Association of King Proctor's tuneful operetta, " The Magic Ruby," the proceeds augmenting tile school fund. This was produced by Hie tutor, Mr. George Stacpoole, and under his direction the acting and smg'ng filched a high standard, the enunciation D: songs being particularly good. The Soloists were: Misses Sarah Stacpoole (Kelly O'Neale), Nancy Harrison (Electra, goddess of light), Jean Hawkins (Lakme, li Nautch girl), Messrs. Colin Hinge (the njah), Godfrey flarrison (Harry Lisle), liu Grant (Major-General Bangs), A. Taylor (Pat McGee), and J. Rosson (Ah Sin). Non-sinsing parts were taken by Mesoanies S'mpson (Violet), J. Bosson (Lola), Miss Edie Barr (Rose), and Mr. A. Fletpho.r (Raj the Rakshasha). Attendant fairies and imps provided yrr-tty dances, and other dances were introduced during the performance. The accompanist was Mr. George Stacpoole. 'After supper was served the remainder tf the night was spent in dancing, Mr. Godfrey Harrison having charge of the loor arrangements.
