PROMISING GOLD FIND
CROMWELL FLAT CLAIMS PROFESSOR PARK OPTIMISTIC [llY TEI.EC.RAPH —PRES3 ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Monday Following a visit to Cromwell over the week-end, when lie examined the tunnels on both claims on Cromwell Flat, in which rich returns of gold have been obtained, Professor Park, tho well-known mining authority, stated that it was "one of the most promising things seen in alluvial mining in New Zealand." He was of opinion that a lead of gold runs from near the Kawarau Gorge to a point at tho back of Cromwell. If this proved to be the case, he believed that a new era in the history of the field would be opened. Ho considered that the latest find promised a very bright future for gold mining in Central Otngo generally.
