MEN STILL MISSING
OVERTURNED OPEN BOAT SEARCH PROVES UNSUCCESSFUL J A fruitless search was made yesterday for the two occupants of the open boat Biddy, which was found floating bottom upwards in Shoal Bay on Sunday morning. They are Mr. Roy Goldwater, single, aged 23, of 23 Victoria Crescent, Newmarket, and Mr. Christopher James King, married, aged 58, of Vermont Street, Ponsonbv. The two men left Auckland about 8 a.m. on Saturday with the intention of fishing in the upper reaches of the harbour, and returning late in the afternoon, ; but no trace of them has been found since. Mr. Goldwater's two brothers, Messrs. Lewis and Harold Goldwater, together with three friends, made a search by launch yesterday of the harbour between Kauri Point and Shoal Bay, fut the quest was unsuccessful. There was a strong breeze blowing on Saturday, and the sea was choppy round Kauri Point. Mr. Goldwater was an employee of the Auckland Gas Company, and was the owner of the Biddy, a 12ft. centreboard boat with sail and jib. He was a good swimmer. Mr. King, who for many years was a waterside worker, was not in robust health.
